Columbus
Montessori has many unique characteristics differentiating
us from other private schools in the area. In addition to a
diverse teaching and administrative staff, our school community
consists of families with a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.
Our teaching staff is highly educated, many with masters’ degrees,
and all lead teachers hold certified Montessori credentials.
We offer a year-round Montessori program at all levels, including
comprehensive care available before and after school hours.
At
Columbus Montessori our focus is on the development of the
child as a whole, academically, socially, emotionally, and
physically. We have fully equipped Montessori classrooms that
foster the children’s ability to learn by being active.
Because we have a high percentage of Montessori-trained teachers,
there is a consistency among staff members which allows the
students to experience the education process to its fullest.
The extended, uninterrupted work periods facilitate the children’s
ability to immerse themselves in their work, to be able to
move from one work to another, and to make independent choices.
Having a consistent team of Montessori teachers in each environment
with the children throughout the day provides a unique learning
experience.
The
school serves a culturally and socio-economically diverse student
population. Forty percent of families receive financial aid.
The administration and staff value positive school-home relationships
and active community involvement. These qualities make Columbus
Montessori a truly unique learning environment.
