Tammie Colosky
Alexis’s educational experience before Columbus Montessori was desolate. She had little self-esteem and was failing in school. Everyone was trying to help Alexis but our home was in chaos. At the end of every evening, we would all be frustrated as it took hours to help her get her homework done.

Alexis came to Columbus Montessori in sixth grade with learning challenges and special needs. In this new environment, Alexis felt that everyone was helpful and caring and felt like part of another family. It took her a while to understand how Columbus Montessori gave the children individual time to work on projects and homework and that the students were in the driver seat, in charge of their learning. Once she caught on, her progress increased rapidly. It was phenomenal! The testing kept showing that she was excelling in leaps and bounds. In that time period, she improved more on standardized testing then any child they have ever had.

I believe Columbus Montessori gave Alexis a great foundation for her future. The school helped her through those three years and she graduated from the eighth grade as a very positive, confident, happy adolescent full of self worth and confidence. If the Center had a high school, Alexis would still be there!
She has done very well adjusting to a local public high school, and with the study habits she learned at Columbus Montessori, she has continues to excel. She went on to do very well in her ninth grade IEP classes and ended the year with high honors, a great accomplishment. We are grateful to Columbus Montessori and feel that the institution played a huge part in her continued success.

We left the Center with a very happy, excited, confident adolescent who was, and is, ready for the world and all of its challenges. Our family life has settled down and we couldn’t be happier. We couldn't have done is without the wonderful staff at Columbus Montessori.

The school and the entire Columbus Montessori community have a special place in my heart for what they have provided to my children and so many others: a firm foundation which has empowered them to be all they can be! Columbus Montessori provides the kind of learning environment that embraces children and fosters a lifelong love of learning. It is a wonderful asset to our central Ohio community. I am honored to have served on the Board of Trustees and am proud to be affiliated with an organization that holds diversity as a core value.
